Saint Patrick supposedly picked his first shamrock on the Hill of Tara just a few kilometres away, and today the people of Navan have a Shamrock festival to coincide with the celebration of Irelands National Holiday. There is an innovative take on the use of floats as the float parade race is on the river! The winner is awarded EUR1,000 and bragging rights that night in the pub....

This is a festival that celebrates all thing Irish from Singing, Dancing, Music, Storytelling and the Irish lanuages play a big part of the festival.
The festival  is a part of Comhtas Ceoltoiri na Eireann, the organisation that prmotes Irish Music and Culture in the island of Ireland and abroad....

Events include an exhibition of steam threshing, vintage engines and machinery and working demonstrations of reaping and binding. Displays of crafts and museum artifacts, horse drawn machinery along with side shows and dancing deck....
