There is always some event happening in Achill over the summer season (May to September)....

Swinford hosts Ireland's largest street festival, Siamsa Sraide (fun on the streets) on the August Bank Holiday Weekend. This festival of pageantry and dance depicts much of the culture and heritage of east Mayo. Highlights include open air dancing nightly to some of Ireland's best bands, as well as crossroads Ceili, Historical Walks and a Heritage Day. There is also a Children's programme and an International Busking Competition, which carries a prize fund....

The theme of our festival is the welcoming of the many people who emigrated from this area with their families to the home town and the integrating of the many new families who have come to live with us....

Events include: Live Music on Street , Pub Crawl, 60's Disco, Irish Traditional night on street, Crafts Display, Barbaque on street, Raft Race, Fancy Dress Ball in Community Hall.

This normally takes place on the August Bank Holiday Weekend.  ...

A week-long celebration of Achills Fruit de la Mer festival with seafood gala night. Fresh local seafood is the order of the day throughout the island during the week. The highlight of the week is the selection of the Festival Queen - 'Cailin Acla'.
