Carrigglas Manor
Longford, Longford

Castleforbes Demesne
Castleforbes, Longford, Longford
A focal point of the northern midlands where the provinces of Leinster, Ulster and Connaught all converge, Longford, where history and literature, tragedy and triumph are all woven together, takes its name from the ancient stronghold of the O'Farrell family (Long Fort - Fort of the O'Farrells). The highest point of the county, Cairn Hill, is only 279 m high, but from...
Turbotstown House
Turbotstown, Longford, Longford
A Georgian Mansion about 200 years old is of historic and architectural interest. Designed by Francis Johnston, it was the home of the Dease Family until 1926. Edmund Fitzlaurance Dease, 1856-1934, author of "History of the Westmeath Hunt", and father of Maurice James Dease, C.C. - the first V.C. of World War 1 - was of this house. Dr. Thomas Dease, Bishop of Meath, 1621 -1652 was born here in 1569. The present owners are John and Brigid Donohoe and the house is open to the public....
